My dad has been a baseball fan his whole life. He grew up listening to it on the radio out in the middle of West Texas. Back in that day while baseball wasn't really west of the Mississippi he could get baseball broadcasts on a good night out there. He became a big Brooklyn Dodgers fan. (for awhile when I was growing up we collected baseball cards and we got him any Brooklyn ones we could get our hands on) Eventually he left West Texas and went to seminary in Kansas City. While he was there the Royals became an expansion team. He and a buddy decided to check out the very first Royals game ever. He stayed a fan and I became one as well. All that being said now that he has gotten a little older and semi-retired he has been trying to get to as many baseball stadiums as he can. Two summers ago I figured out a weekend where we could hit Southern California for a long weekend and we saw games in San Diego (Padres), Anaheim (Angels), and Los Angeles (Dodgers).
This summer I was able to find another great baseball trip. I'm taking him to 6 different ballparks on the East Coast in 6 different days. We're going to Fenway (Red Sox), Citi Field (Mets), Citizen Bank Park (Phillies), Camden Yards (Orioles), Nationals Park (duh), and Yankee Stadium (you know this one too).
This starts next week and I'm going to document it here. 6 games in 6 days in 5 cities (+1 extra borough). And now that I see that pretty much comes to 666, let's hope this isn't the trip from hell.
